I was in town the other day and walked by an art store and I can't help myself so I had to go in and see if anything needed to go home with me. The guy working there asked me if I needed anything and without thinking I said I needed a good watercolor brush. I got a couple of artist quality brushes this summer and they spoiled all my other brushes for me. Also I struggle a lot when it comes to watercolor. Anyways, he showed me some brushes that wasn't that expensive and I got a couple of smaller ones to try out and they were really good for that prize. I always tell people you shouldn't buy bad tools but for some reason I keep using the same old brushes and then complaining about the struggle to get decent results. I always avoid coloring critters and people using watercolors but I decided to try my new brushes on these deer from Lawn Fawns Toboggan Together set. I really think just buying a couple of new brushes will improve my watercoloring, this was not as much of a struggle as it usually is.
I made these deer into a card for Design in Papers. I think it turned out pretty cute. I'm also taking the mini watercolor class Exploring Mediums at Online Card Classes. And even though I haven't made an attempt to try out the techniques yet I feel I got inspired to play a bit. I used Spectrum Aquas for this image, but I scribbled the ink on an acrylic block and picked it up with my brushes instead of going directly to paper.
That's it from me today. Be back soon, promise :)
